If you are sourcing board books for ASEAN or Middle East markets, 2026 is a good year to be in this business.
Southeast Asia’s children’s literature accounts for roughly one-third of book sales across the region, and the median age is just 32.5.
In the Middle East, the Doha International Book Fair saw children’s literature demand surge so sharply that youth pavilions moved from side spaces to the main drivers of visitor engagement.
But here is what matters more than market size: getting the compliance right before you print, not after.
In the U.S., CPSIA requires a permanent tracking label on children’s products — manufacturer name, production batch, and date. Ordinary paper-and-ink books may qualify for certain exemptions, but the moment your board book adds laminated pages, a sound module, or any detachable part, it steps fully into toy territory. The EU’s new Toy Safety Regulation (EU) 2025/2509 entered into force on January 1, 2026, expanding chemical restrictions to PFAS, endocrine disruptors, and hazardous bisphenols.
What this means for your spec sheet: soy-based inks, water-based coatings and adhesives, 400gsm+ paperboard, and rounded corners (R≥5mm) are the safe defaults for 2026. These are not upsells. They are the baseline.
We do board books at QYC Print with all post-press in-house — die-cutting, laminating, gluing, and rounding. We provide MSDS for all materials, can print tracking labels in the required format, and support your compliance flow from material selection to final inspection. FSC certified (DCI-COC-000771).
We also do the outer packaging — rigid boxes, folding cartons, and paper bags — in the same factory. One vendor, full solution. If you are launching a children’s book line for ASEAN or the Middle East and need catalogs or gift packaging to go with it, you don’t need to coordinate three suppliers.
Visiting the Canton Fair? We are in Huangpu District, about 45 minutes from the Pazhou Complex. Come see the board book line running and check the corner rounding yourself. Email info@qycprint.com to arrange a visit or request a quote.
